1. What type of books do you write?
I write two types of books – The Fix is dark humour / murder mystery, I’ve also written a yet to be published historical fiction series regarding the Roman invasion of Britain & the almost entirely forgotten General, Caradoc.

2. What is the latest book you have written?
It’s a murder / mystery novel but with a very strong leaning towards humour. It’s about a guy who hates everything in his life – job (in an investment bank!), girlfriend, social life (he has none) & friends (none of these either). It’s about relationships & it’s about lies, how everyone will do something to get ahead – some more than others.

4. When did you start writing?
It’s difficult to remember as I’ve been writing since I was about 9 years old!

5. Why did you start writing?
I’ve always loved words & I’m usually reading a couple of books at a time. So experiencing how well others communicate their characters and situations and the emotions they evoked in me made me want to do the same. I enjoy the challenge of building a story and then seeing others read it (& hopefully like it too).

6. Who are your influences?
There are many, I’ve been lucky enough to read some excellent books. In specific genres there are one or two authors I will always pick up when they publish a new book. To be specific:
- Historical fiction, Bernard Cornwell, Seven Saylor, Robert Harris (Roman books)
- Thriller, Lee Child, Martin Cruz Smith
- Fantasy, Terry Pratchett, Philip Pullman
- Crime, Ian Rankin
I pick these guys as they all write compelling narrative, their characters are really well rounded, the dialogue is strong. I’m always pleased when starting a new book of theirs and sad when I’ve finished it.

Dead On Arrival

1. What type of books do you write?
My stories are crime thrillers that blend the best elements from films like The Usual Suspects, The Bourne Supremacy and Basic Instinct.

2. What is the latest book you have written?
I am offering a series of short stories to introduce people to my characters and style of writing. I currently have three stories available, with two more coming in the next few weeks. The latest one is called Dead on Arrival about a man doing simple favor that descends into deception and murder.For Free on Smashwords

I'm releasing the current series under the title RSVP, which is the name of the fictional corporation that several of the characters are working in.

4. When did you start writing?
I started writing shortly after I stopped working at Marvel Entertainment. I was in the corporate department, so I didn't write while I was there, but I was taught the principles of writing. I learned the same fundamentals that went into our movies and comics. That definitely helped my writing later on.

5. Why did you start writing?
I started writing because I wanted to tell good stories. There are a lot of other benefits that come from being a writer, but creating compelling stories is the biggest motivation. I want to help people feel the same wide range of emotions that I feel when I read my favorite writers.

6. Who are your influences?
I have a wide range of influences, but the main ones are Anais Nin, Barry Eisler, Brian Azzarello, John Le Carre, Josephine Hart, Oscar Wilde and William Gibson. Each one of them have different strengths that I try to bring to the work I do.

Richard The Lionheart

1. What type of books do you write? Young adult and children but tried a historical fiction book about Richard the Lionheart. I love the Robin Hood movies and thought that no one hardly ever mentions Richard the King.

2. What is the latest book you have written? Richard the Lionheart is the last one I had published, but I have another one I am editing before sending it in to be published. Richard should be available on E book very soon.

I would say about two years ago I got into writing full time, but I have written poems when i was still in high school.

My sister gave me a journal for my 16th birthday. She knew I had something to say but I refused to talk to anyone about what I was going through. She suggested that I write my feelings down instead of keeping them bottled up.

Pretty much anyone I've come in contact with has influenced my writing. Sometimes it takes a while for me to learn the lesson but everyone I know has taught me how to get through this thing called Life.

My main focus is releasing my SistaGirlz series. As the storyline progresses, my readers will see how the characters grow up and learn from what they're going through together. Once I publish the paperback editions of my books, I plan to have book signing events, book giveaways and book tours. The Line, the Itch and the Rabbit Hole

1. What type of books do you write?

I typically write dark, twisted fiction with a comical edge. Whether it’s fantasy, horror or something in between. My two recent books, the ones that are currently available on Amazon, are nothing of the sort. “An Idiot in Love” is an out-and-out comedy; “The Line, the Itch and the Rabbit Hole” is a memoir. I needed a change, and I really like the results, but I will be returning to my usual genres now.

2. What is the latest book you have written?
“An Idiot in Love” is a fictional biography from the perspective of Kieran McCall, a persistently unlucky idiot who has failed to catch any breaks in life or love. It’s a rom-com from the male side.

3. When did you start writing?
I started writing nearly ten years ago, when I was 18. I had “dabbled” many years before that when I was 10 or 11, but it wasn’t until I was 18 when things became serious after my first short story was published in a local rag.

I’d always loved to read and had a wicked imagination.
5. Who are your influences?
Philip K. Dick. Terry Pratchett and Stephen King. The fact that they write in three completely different genres probably has something to do with my own genre-indecisiveness.

It’s only been a few weeks since the first book was published, so I’m not really sure what will happen from here. I guess I just cross my fingers and keep on promoting.

I believe that everyone has struggled through one aspect of their life, others every aspect. I do have faith that one day, it will get better and the journey will end with a stronger, wiser woman at the end of it.

Life can get you down, but it is how you deal with these struggles that make you the person you are today. I find writing helps me deal with every aspect of my life. The pleasant experiences are written so that I can turn back and be grateful for the things I have achieved in life. The unpleasant experiences are written, so I can overcome them and deal with the problems that I am facing at the moment. I am publishing these personal parts of my life, to help others see that they are not alone. I am not an expert in any domain, I have not succeeded in any aspect of my life, but I try to learn from my mistakes and in turn, I have become wiser. Knowledge gained by experience, rather than through a book or education. Therefore, take this journey with me, through every aspect of my life, the highs, lows and the inbetweens.

1. What type of books do you write?
I write a variety of genre fantasy with a proclivity for dark themes, ie urban, dystopian, contemporary, and high fantasy.

2. What is the latest book, you have written?
Most recently wrote "White Leaves" book one of the E.L.F. (Earth Liberation Front) series.Publication with JukePopSerial

It is book one/part of an Urban/dystopian fantasy series "E.L.F."

4. When did you start writing?
I began writing upon graduating high school in 2000.

5. Why did you start to write?
I started because after high school i realized h.s. hadn't prepared me for life at all, and after considering my options as for a path in life, i realized writing wasthe only thing i could picture myself doing for the rest of my life. And, because everyone always told me that my father, who passed away when i was in my early teens, should've been a writer.

6. Who are your influeneces?
My greatest influence was Terry Brooks(Shannara Series), but I am also influenced by many of the great fantasy writers, Tolkien, Goodkind, etc. As well as modern creators like the Waichowski brothers. Dark and edgy, and generally mind blowing.

7. What do you have planned for the future, book signings etc.
As for the near future, I'm currently focused on finishing releasing my Serial version of E.L.F. -White Leaves, still plenty of chapters to go. I hope to release it as an ebook, pick up an agent and get it released with a traditional publishing house, because I really want that hard copy paperback. But I am also looking into perhaps transcribing it back into a screenplay, because im a very visual writer. I see it as film for the big screen. Other than that, I am working on the sequel to White Leaves. Book two of E.L.F. will be entitled, Blighted Leaves. But there will be more to follow.

THE LUCK OF THE WEISSENSTEINERS

1. What type of books do you write?
I write historical novels and also some contemporary fiction. I am fascinated by the last century and the way both World Wars have affected the creation of new nations: The changing of borders, forced or voluntary movement of people and the resulting conflicts of loyalty and sense of belonging of my heroes. To portray this I usually create a large cast of characters whose lives are affected by the chain reaction of political and personal changes.
My other, contemporary, fiction revolves around private dramas, such as mental and physical illnesses, mid-life crisis and choices we are forced to make in our lives.

2. What is the latest book, you have written?
“THE LUCK OF THE WEISSENSTEINERS” is a novel set in 1933 Bratislava of what was then the First Republic of Czechoslovakia. It focuses on the romance between a Jewish weaver’s daughter and a German bookseller. As fascist interest in the country increases and war comes to Europe the couple and their families have to face the challenges thrown at each of them. After the War there are more unexpected circumstances to deal with.
I have some family connections to the region and while researching the past of my ancestors I started to become particularly fascinated by the role that Slovakia played in World War II.

3. Is it part of a series?
“THE LUCK OF THE WEISSENSTEINERS” is part of a trilogy, which deals with the issues I have outlined above: Political borders, forced or voluntary mass movement of people and conflicts of loyalty and sense of belonging. The Trilogy is loosely entitled “The Trilogy of Nations”. The next part in the series has the working title “SEBASTIAN” and is set in Vienna before and after World War I.

4. When did you start writing?
I first started writing at the age of 10 for my school’s student magazine, mainly comic pieces. In my late teens my desire to read got the upper hand and I abandoned my creativity in order to read more of what others had put together. I started again two years ago.

5. Why did you start writing?
I began to write a student manual for a course I was planning to give and got distracted by the idea for a novel. Curious to see if I could do it I persevered, expecting to lose my momentum before long. Only as I reached the 100 page mark did I believe that this story could turn into a book. My reason for writing that particular and yet unpublished book was my desire to share my personal experiences with mentally ill people, to alert people to the problems, heighten their sensitivity and become more tolerant, change their perspective. I am writing books of the type that I prefer in the hope that they will entertain others in the same way as I have been entertained and educated by great writers in the genre.

6. Who are your influences?
In terms of other authors, I would have to say: Lionel Shriver, Simon Mawer, Christos Tsiolkas, Tom Perrotta and Patrick Gale – to name a few. Their honesty and bite when portraying their characters, their ability to create a love-hate relationship with their protagonists have fascinated me deeply and I am sure that some of their style has rubbed off on me.
Being German and having learned Latin at school I am told that my sentence structure is reminiscent of Thomas Mann and other German writers, many of whom I studied in my teens and twenties.
Other influences are of course my wonderful friends and editors.

7. What can we expect from you in the future?
“THE LUCK OF THE WEISSENSTEINERS” is out on Amazon Kindle and CreateSpace print on demand in December. The second part of the Trilogy, “SEBASTIAN”, and a book about dementia, are currently in the later stages of editing. I hope to publish at least one of them in 2013.
A translation into German is currently also under way.

Broken Hearts; Dusty Dreams

1. What type of books do you write?
I write all kinds of books. All of them have the base aspect of being romantic, but as for the sub-genre, I tend to touch a bit of everything. I have young adult, contemporary, paranormal, and a lot of angst.

I am about to release a novel titled Broken Hearts; Dusty Dreams.

So far I have released two books. The first (The Cult of Me) was a supernatural thriller, the second (An Odd Quartet) is a collection of horror stories with unusual twists in the tale.

An Odd Quartet is my latest release. It is a collection of four dark stories. Including a ghost story, Death's recollections from the heat death of the universe. A special forces team conduct a hostage rescue mission and a reluctant demon takes his possession exam.

The book is written in rhyme and is all about shoes for boys and girls. We all love shoes!

I started writing because I have a deep passion for making children smile. My goal when I write is to create a magical quality moment for both the parent and the chiId simply by reading a book. I truly believe that if we plant the seed to read a child will succeed. I write books to share laughs and giggles with children around the world.

My influences are Dr. Seuss, Shel Silverstein, Mo Willems, and P.D. Eastman.

I am working on a new children's book which will be released in the next couple of months. One of my goals is to create audio books for the books I currently have published. 1. What type of books do you write?
I write fantasy/speculative fiction.

2. What is the latest book you have written?
Last year, I released my debut novel, The Remnant: The Legend of the Seer through Westbow Press, a self-publishing division of Thomas Nelson.

The Legend of the Seer is the first installment of The Remnant Series, which, at this point in time, will be a trilogy. However, depending on how the story develops, it could become a saga.

Castles on the Sand

1. What type of books do you write?
As E.M. Tippetts I write chick lit and YA novels, all of which have a strong romance element. As Emily Mah I write science fiction and fantasy, but I've only ever sold short stories with this name (so far.)

2. What is the latest book you have written?
The latest book I've released is Castles on the Sand, which is a YA coming of age story about a sixteen year old girl who is discovered by a long lost brother she never knew she had. She's used to being alone and having no one in her corner, so when big brother starts to tell her she's lovable, beautiful, and worthy of better treatment than her "friends" give her, it rocks the foundations of her world - ultimately in a good way.

The latest book I've written, which will be released January 5th is Nobody's Damsel, which is the sequel to my top seller, Someone Else's Fairytale. Fairytale is about a young woman who gets hit on by a mega-famous movie star, yet isn't into movies or popular trends. She's the woman every other woman in America is dying to be and it's not the sort of thing she would ever have asked for. I won't say much about Damsel, so as not to spoil the end of Fairytale. Suffice it to say these books are about every day life, with an absurd twist.

3. Is it part of a series, if so which one?
Yes, both books are parts of series. Castles on the Sand will have a sequel called Personal Demons, and Nobody's Damsel is the sequel to Someone Else's Fairytale (and there will be more books in the Fairytale series.)

4. When did you start writing?
When I learned to hold a pencil, I guess. Before that I just came up with really creative lies I told my parents.

5. Why did you start writing?
I'm one of those people who literally has to. No matter where I am or what I'm doing, stories will start to appear on my hard drive or on scratch paper left lying around. Given I have this compulsion, I figured I should learn how to do it well enough to generate some income, because otherwise it is a very time consuming hobby.

6. Who are your influences?
Too many to name. I am a graduate of the Clarion West Writer's Workshop for Science Fiction and Fantasy, where I was taught by Octavia Butler, Bradley Denton, Nalo Hopkinson, Ellen Datlow, Connie Willis, and Jack Womack. I was in the Critical Mass writer's group for ten years and there workshopped with Daniel Abraham, Yvonne Coats, Ty Franck, George RR Martin, Victor Milan, John Jos. Miller, Melinda Snodgrass, S.M. Stirling, Ian Tregillis, Sage Walker, and Walter Jon Williams. Before I got any training I corresponded with my favorite author growing up, Orson Scott Card. He's the one who helped advise me where to go to learn how to write.
But needless to say, whenever I pick up a book or watch a movie, I'm influenced. I'm that annoying person who mutters all the way through a movie about whether or not the scene structure was effective or the dialogue worked.

7. What can we expect from you in the near future? Book signing events, other details
Just book releases for now! I'm not adverse to doing signings, but rarely do they pay off for bookstores until the writer is able to move some serious volume. My sales are climbing and I've been ranked very high on Amazon, but all in all, I'm a newbie still breaking in.

Finding Lucas

1. What type of books do you write?
I write women's fiction. Finding Lucas, my debut novel, is chick lit or romantic comedy. My second novel, Everything But, due to be released in late winter/early spring, is quite a bit more serious, and though there are some hilarious moments and the writing is fast-paced, it isn't a comedy.


2. What is the latest book you have written?
Finding Lucas, available as an ebook on Amazon, will be coming out in paperback very soon. After five long years of living with Derek, her former bad boy turned mextrosexual boyfriend, Jamie Ross has had enough of his sneering disdain for her unusual family, second hand wardrobe and low-paying job as the associate producer of Chicago's sleaziest daytime talk show. 4. When did you start writing?
I have honestly been writing since I was old enough to pick up a pen and even sent my first manuscript to a publisher when I was ten years old. It was rejected, but a lifelong passion to write was born!

5. Why did you start writing?
I have always loved writing, but I started doing it seriously after taking a very cool course on imagination during my Master's degree. My prof asked us to create a character, and I conjured up Wanda X, a leather loving fetishist. I had so much fun creating her that I decided to sit down and write a novel (not about Wanda X). I haven't stopped since.

6. Who are your influences?
I have so many. Ernest Hemingway has always been one of my favorite writers, but in my genre, I love Emily Giffin, Jennifer Weiner, Jane Fallon, Wendy Markham, and of course, Helen Fielding.

7. What can we expect from you in the near future? Book signing events, other details
The paperback version of Finding Lucas should be out within a month, and I will definitely do a giveaway and launch. I'm working hard to finish Everything But, and it's the story of Maddy Taylor, a woman who never wanted kids...until she does. But, her husband isn't quite on the same page. Maddy desperately tries to save her marriage and have a child, but trying to have everything might make her lose it all. Will Maddy always have everything but?

Flying Solo

1. What type of books do you write?
I write historical and women's fiction. Most of my books and screenplays are about strong women characters who have challenged the norm to change their corner of the world. I love writing historical fiction around the time of baby boomers, espcially the 1960s. It was such a time of change for this country. In addition, military based fiction is another passion, especially military aviators.

2. What is the latest book you have written?
My lastest book is called FLYING SOLO. The story is based on a true character! Nora is a 1960s Catholic housewife from New Orleans. Desperate for an outlet from her bad marriage, she takes flying lessons. Once she solos, she feels liberated. For the first time in her life, she finds a passion and purpose. When she confronts her husband for a divorce, all hell breaks loose. In a dramatic attempt to get her children returned, Nora resorts to stealing a plane. FLYING SOLO has it all, drama, sex, intrigue, suspense . . .all set amidst the magical, mysterious French Quarter and Mardi Gras of New Orleans.

3. Is it part of a series, if so which one?
FLYING SOLO is the first book of the series. The sequel takes the characters to Vietnam during the war. It is called SOLO VIETNAM and will be out in April 2013. I am really excited to be completing the second in the series of four. There's lots of aviation in the sequel. Military buffs will love the flights of the A-4 Skyhawk off the USS Coral Sea.

4. When did you start writing?
I was first published at the young age of 21. It was a newspaper article for the Lubbock Avalanche Journal entitled Death with Dignity. I was so proud to see my byline for the first time. I became smitten. Over the years, I have been published in many newspapers and healthcare journals. It took twenty-five years for me to find my passion and give myself permission to write what I love . . .fiction based on true stories. For my Master's degree, I wrote a full length screenplay about men in nursing called ANGEL OF MERCY. I hope to get it and FLYING SOLO optioned.

5. Why did you start writing?
I think like many writers, it is a passion that ignites within. There are stories that circulate in your head and just have to be told. My favorite motivational phrase for wanna-be writers is. . .don't wait! Just do it!! True story telled who are gifted have no trouble finding their voice. You can teach writing, but you cannot teach passion. The talented writer was destined to be just that.

6. Who are your influences? My influences are the true life characters, the protagonists of my stories. I am fascinated by the courageous decisions and unique experiences they took in in their lives. They are what keep me writing. As they often say, truth can be way better than fiction.

7. What can we expect from you in the near future?
Book signing events, other details I will be completing my book and blog tour for FLYING SOLO by the end of the year, then I will be wrapping up final edits on SOLO VIETNAM for its debut in Spring of 2013. I will be featured at the North Texas Book Festival and the Military Writer's Association. Short bio:
Jeanette Vaughan is an award winning writer and story teller. Not only is she published in the periodicals and professional journals of nursing, but also in the genre of fiction. Out on her sheep farm, she has written several novels and scripts. Her screenplay "Angel of Mercy" won the outstanding nursing research award from Texas Tech University Health Science Center. In addition, she was named Distinguished Alumni for the school of nursing in 2001 for her written work and volunteerism for the Sydney Olympic Games. Jeanette has practiced nursing in the fields of critical care and trauma. She is the mother of four children, including two Navy pilots. The Persecution of Mildred Dunlap By Paulette Mahurin

An amazing book, which I could not put down from start to finish. It featured hatred in it´s true form.
The main storyline, focused on Mildred, but there were other aspects, which were mentioned in the book, all with the same theme, hatred causes nothing but pain, wasted energy and life is too short.

The book was vivid, and the scenes were excellently set, that I felt that I was in this historical town. Even with the advantages of technology, the descriptions of news travel, and the limitations in the evidence of this news. Also, I felt I was in this small town, with the characters in the book.
Unfortunately, Mildred felt love and hate for this town for different reasons, which were made clear in the book.

I was never disappointed with each section of the book, from the beginning to the middle and especially at the end.
I was expecting a twist and was glad that it did happen in an unexpected light. I recommend this book to other´s, because I truly believe to move forward in life, we need to learn from history.
These were historical events that did happen, and I loved the way this news effected others in the town. At times it made me laugh and other times, I felt sadness............well done, to the author, for their first novel, it is such an excellent achievement.

A Tale of Two Brothers

1. What types of books do you write?
I have dabbled in many different genres over the years, but my current focus is on young-adult fantasy. I have always loved adventure stories, and especially those that provide an escape into worlds that the writer has created.

2. What is the latest book you have written?
I have released my first book less than a month ago. It is "A Tale of Two Brothers" It is a story set in the world of Terrezial, a broken and sand-filled world, where dangerous creatures dwell. It is one of a legend, that has long been hidden, and of the two young boys who are destined to fulfill it. It is a sweeping tale of danger, battle, pirates, and a beautiful princess. I have spent the last 8 years crafting and molding the world and its characters and am very excited to share it with the excited imaginations of the younger generation.

3. Is it part of a series, if so which one?
It is the first of nine books in the Tales of Terrezial series... Even if I sell only a few I must finish the whole story as I love telling the tale.

4. When did you start writing?
I started reading long before I could write. I would read until the late hours of the night, with a flashlight hidden by a blanket, and as soon as I awoke again in the morning. I never did like sleep much. It would take years before I would begin writing, not until I was in college, that I would begin finally putting my imagination down on paper. I wanted to write something that I would enjoy reading.

5. Why did you start writing?
Mainly because I had to finally put down my many story ideas on paper. That, and the prodding of my English teachers. They helped me see beyond my own lack of self-confidence, and encouraged me to write. They believed in me before I did.

6. Who are your influences?
I have so many. But my favorite adventure writer is Robert Louis Stevenson. Especially Treasure Island. I have read it so many times and watched every version. I also would have to say Frank Herbert, C.S. Lewis, and of course Tolkien. Lately, George R.R. Martin helped inspire my point of view for my characters.

7. What can we expect from you in the near future? Book signing events, other details
I am really new to the whole marketing/publicity associated with getting my book out to the readers. I am spending a lot of time on GoodReads, Facebook, Twitter,and further information is on my blog . I like to connect with individuals and spend a lot of time online answering questions and responding to emails. Write me and I will write you back! 1. What type of books do you write?
I write mostly fantasy and science fiction, but I also delve into some inspirational writing, such as with my latest project. In everything I do, I try to make sure there is some highly-original element.

2. What is the latest book you have written?
My latest book is my first foray into independent publishing and compiling an anthology. It is called “Sing We Now of Christmas: An Advent Anthology”. It is a group of 25 Christmas stories based on Christmas Carols that can be read like an advent calendar.

I started writing seriously when I was in high school. I had been a voracious reader all growing up and one day thought I’d see if I could write a novel myself. A year later, I had, and I’ve never stopped since.

1. What types of books do you write?
I write contemporary fiction. It is also considered women's fiction and chick-lit. I think the term "chick-lit" gets a bad rap. Many people don't take that genre seriously but I'm not hung up on labels. Call it whatever you want...just read it!

2. What is the latest book you have written?
My debut novel, What More Could You Wish For, was published by St. Martin's Press in August 2012. It'she story of Libby Carson who has a great life—a thriving business, a family she adores, and a steady guy with whom she has “an arrangement.” Life is nice and tidy until her 50th birthday. That’s when Libby reconnects with her high school boyfriend online. That’s also when her significant other proposes. Libby’s been down the marriage road before and it just didn’t work. So while she’s trying to persuade her guy to keep things status quo, she also begins an email correspondence with her old flame. Just for fun, she tells herself. But fun soon turns to flirtation and Libby is startled to feel some stirrings of the passion she felt at seventeen. How is that possible? She thought she had things all figured out. Now, Libby must take stock of her life and everyone in it, to answer for herself the question everyone’s been asking her: What more could you wish for?

It is not part of a series although I've had requests for a sequel. And never say never, I always say.

4. When did you start writing?
I started writing in third grade when our assignment was to write a short story. I got hooked on writing when Mrs. Allen read my first story aloud to the class.

I started writing because I loved to read.

Moments Collide

1. What types of books do you write?
The first book I wrote was a contemporary literary fiction about the journey of a man through his career and relationships. I am, however, a history addict, theological history, to be exact, so right now I'm working on an Urban Fantasy book series touching on the ideas of the old Gnostic gospels (the Gospel of Judas in particular) and the old Greco-Roman myths and legends.

2. What is the latest book you have written?
I only have one published, the contemporary fiction novel, Moments Collide. I'm about two-thirds of the way finished with my second novel, The Awakening, which I'm hoping to have ready for publishing in early December, if all goes according to plan.

3. Is it part of a series, if so which one?
It's going to be part of a series called The Judas Curse. Right now I have three books planned out, but I'm hoping to have enough inspiration to keep the tales of Judas, Mark and detective Ben Stanford going for some time.

4. When did you start writing?
I've been writing since I could form sentences, really. I used to write small, short stories when I was a kid, and by junior high, I was writing novel-length vampire stories on loose-leaf papers. My room was covered in pages and pages of the stuff. When I was sixteen I finished a 700 page fantasy novel about dragons. I have to say I'm a little glad I never tried to pursue publishing that, since at the time my fantasy world was run by a bunch of 21 year olds (whom I thought were SO grown up haha) but it's still something I'm pretty proud of.

5. Why did you start writing?
Writing is something I've always wanted to do. For as long as I can remember, when people asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up, it was a writer. All of my friends went off to college to pursue careers in psychology, medicine, finance and business. I got my degree in theology and continued to study and write. I guess you could say I started writing because I was born a writer.

6. Who are your influences?
I take inspiration from nearly every book I read, whether I liked it or not. I develop my own person lists of things I want to take with me, and things I want to avoid, and for that everyone deserves credit. When I was younger, my biggest inspiration was probably Anne Rice, since I was addicted to her books as a teen, but honestly the thing that influences my writing the most is life. The stories I hear from people, the things I experienced, and the piles of books I read when I go into my "reading phase."

7. What can we expect from you in the near future? Book signing events, other details
Over the next few months I plan to sit down and write as much as I can. Being as this is my first time dipping my toes into the pool of authorship, I'm taking it slowly. I'm really enjoying the whole self-publishing route, but if my Urban Fantasy series takes off, I might do a little publisher-hunting to help with marketing. The Swimmer

1. What types of books do you write?
So far I've only published one book which is a work of fiction - The Swimmer which is a mystery/ thriller set in far West UK in a place called Cape Cornwall. I'm actually half way through a new book which is a comedy/adventure, so it's a different genre but I'm really enjoying writing it.

2. When did you start writing?
I remember finding an old, enormous green type writer hidden in a cupboard at home when I was about 6 or 7, i started knocking out stories, then I progressed to writing a silly comic and since then I've not really stopped, there are so many half finished books lying about!

I suppose I just liked the feeling of writing stories, its a strange magic which comes with creating a whole new world where you're in control, unlike real life!

4. Who are your influences?
The greatest story teller of all time is John Irving, he's my hero because of the characters he keeps coming up with, I don't really know how he does it!

A Fall From Grace A Mystery

1. What types of books do you write?
Currently, mysteries and story collections, but next year will see the release of my first (and hopefully second) horror novel, and I have others books planned, such as mainstream and fantasy. I have a ten-year plan of releases, with just what I've got on schedule now.

2. What is the latest book you have written?
The latest published book is Apocalypse Tango, a five-story collection of tales of the end of the world. The latest mystery novel was A Fall From Grace, the second Zack Taylor mystery. On Sale, at Amazon and different book stalls, further information is on my blog

A Fall From Grace is the followup Zack Taylor mystery to A Memory of Grief, which details what happens to a man who investigates the death of a friend and winds up changing his life. Book 3, A Shadow On the Wall, is due out this winter.

When I was a teenager. That was some time ago!

5. Why did you start writing?
All these characters and plots just had to have an outlet. Storytelling is the most powerful teaching tool we have, and I wanted to share these stories.

I write in different genres, because I've had so many influences. I'm influenced by writers who tell a good story well.
For mysteries: the line from Dashiel Hammett, Raymond Chandler, Jim Thompson, John D. MacDonald, Robert B. Parker, James Lee Burke.
In stories: Poe, de Maupassant, Saki, Ray Bradbury, Harlan Ellison, Stephen King. In general: Hemingway, Victor Hugo, Thomas Wolfe (both of them), Robert Heinlein, Harper Lee, on and on...

Next month, in just one weekend, I'm attending the Crime Bake mystery conference, and doing a signing at the New England Author's Expo. Planned for next year is the publication of three novels and another story collection, plus numerous short stories in many different magazines and anthologies, and a number of appearances and signings.

The Guardian and the Dream Crawler

1. What types of books do you write?
I have only just published my first book which is Fantasy for Young Adult's, but I plan to publish books in a number of different genres. I think whichever genre I decide to write a book in however I think you can guarantee I will find an opportunity for humor. Humor is one of my author traits I believe and I try to make my dialogue as genuine or real as I possibly can.

2. What is the latest book you have written?
My latest - and first book - is called The Guardian and the Dream Crawler. It is about a young boy born in the magical dimension known as Eden, only for him and his family to be whisked off to the human dimension (our world) to preserve him as he is in fact the next Wizarding Guardian. The Guardian is a powerful wizard born with the strength to protect all dimensions from evil witches and wizards as well as the demon world, hard times and a prophecy predicting the end of all worlds coincides with Daniel's reign as Guardian and he must find the strength and courage to overcome the odds. Whilst dealing with this discovery, his new and somewhat nerdy mentor, keeping his secret from his best friends and handling a school bully he also has to defeat his first magical enemy - the Dream Crawler. It's going to be compared to Harry Potter whatever I do, due to its magical theme, but I think it is good enough and original enough to stand away from HP. It's fun, dark and fast paced, and I think if given the chance will entertain it's reader's.

3. Is it part of a series, if so which one?
It is the first in a series, I'm not completely sure on how many books there will be but I already know where it ends so we'll just have to wait and see how long it takes to get there!

4. When did you start writing?
Honestly I'm a very late bloomer when it comes to writing, I'm 26 in December and I started writing a couple of years ago. I will say though that creatively I have kept stories in my head for many more years but just didn't know how to let them out. With the emergence of self-publishing however I can now do that, so expect to see more books in the near future.

5. Why did you start writing?
Mainly because of the hype around self-publishing if I'm honest. I read a few books and thought "I could so do this too...", and the The Guardian books came right to the front of the queue wanting to be the first to break free. I think also it was nice to be able to do something that I really am enjoying, having an outlet and showcasing these stories, even if only a few people read them, if they enjoy them even half as much as I did whilst writing them then it'll make it all worth while.

6. Who are your influences?
I'm not an author with a vast array of books, again in all honesty I am more of a DVD or movie kind of guy... I know, I know, shame on me - but I enjoy reading the Harry Potter books, Stephen King, Dickens, Roald Dahl etc and am open to other books if anyone wants to point me in a direction! Creatively I think the things Joss Whedon has done on TV and in film are incredible and Ricky Gervais and Michael MacIntyre are just a couple of my comedy influences. I know they aren't really author influences but I don't think it needs to be other authors, for instances I haven't ever taken a writing course but I learnt about story structure through DVD series and my editor was shocked by this because he believed I nailed the structure and plot etc.

7. What can we expect from you in the near future? Book signing events, other details
Nothing planned for book signings or events but my website is now live and I am on twitter, and more importantly I am currently working on book two and hope to have it finished before the end of the year! So more books from me in the near future and some success - fingers crossed!

Soldier, Lily, Peace and Pearls

1. What types of books do you write?
I write literary fiction set against contemporary political developments. My work focuses on the human dimension of contemporary history and I explore human nature through adventure, love, suffering and simple but unexpected acts of kindness.

2. What is the latest book you have written?
My first novel Soldier, Lily, Peace and Pearls was published in 2011 and has now reached its third edition. The story traces the lives of
three individuals who suffered tremendous personal trauma because of political upheavals. There is Minh Chau, a young girl imprisoned with
her mother and older sister, after the Communists take over South Vietnam in 1975, Then comes Quan, the son of a rich Chinese-Vietnamese
merchant family in Cambodia. His life changes radically when the family is sent by the Khmer Rouge to an isolated collective farm along
the Thai border. When Quan and Minh Chau later meet in a refugee camp in Malaysia, Quan becomes the young girl’s protector. In Canada,
Mathieu Hibou enters the story. He plays a major role in helping Minh Chau and her family integrate into Canadian society before leaving to
work as a development worker in Africa. Several years later, Mathieu suffers an unimaginable loss during the Rwandan genocide, a loss that
Minh Chau will help to heal. The lives of these three characters intersect in a very intricate plot. Through friendship and love, they help one another overcome the pain of their pasts and live life to its fullest. 3. Is it part of a series, if so which one?
Soldier, Lily, Peace and Pearls is not part of a series per se, but I intend to re-introduce some of the primary and secondary characters in
my new novel, The Photos, much along the lines of Marcel Pagnol’s novels. There will be a certain continuity of themes between the first and the second novels to further explore the human condition in the face of adversity and injustice. The Photos is only the working title
for the new novel and may well change. I have now quite a detailed outline ready and am continuing with my research of the Lebanese Civil War—the with one central character, Marc Taragon, a French journalist and expert on the Middle East. A major element of the story will be Taragon’s love of a young Palestinian woman in the 1970s in a world collapsing around them.


4. When did you start writing?
As a political analyst and a diplomat, I have been earning my living by writing for decades. Early on, I wrote poetry – some of which, I
may publish one day although that can wait. My decision to write a novel came about eighteen months ago when I was very moved by a
Vietnamese-Canadian friend’s story about being imprisoned as a child in Vietnam and then fleeing Vietnam by boat. I subsequently
discovered that a friend of my mother had spent three years in a collective farm in Cambodia under the brutal rule of the Khmer Rouge.
These individuals became the inspiration for two of the characters in the novel. After writing Soldier, Lily, Peace and Pearls, I set up a
small micropress to publish other novelists. I named the micropress Deux Voiliers Publishing after a beautiful painting by Quebec artist
Sacha Barrette. I have now published four other authors and are looking for new contributors. Interested authors can contact me at

5. Why did you start writing?
I believe that writing fiction with authentic and meaning messages is good for the human soul. In life, we all learn from our unique experiences and from the experiences of others. Fiction provides a vehicle to transmit this learning while entertaining the reader. Like art, it allows us to transcend the mundane and harness our imagination in beautiful and creative ways.

6. Who are your influences?
I lived for four years in Berlin where I fell under the influence of contemporary German literature and film. In one chapter of Soldier,
Lily, Peace and Pearls, I take the character Minh Chau, then 22 years old, on an adventure to Berlin where she discovers the recent past and contemporary reality of the city several years after the fall of the Berlin Wall. My own travels and work abroad, especially in the Middle
East, have encouraged me to relate the human dimension of historical events – something which is sorrowfully missing in contemporary journalism.

7. What can we expect from you in the near future? Book signing

Deux Voiliers Publishing launched a major and very successful Open House at the Collected Works Bookstore in Ottawa on June 1, and our
latest author, Paul Duong, launched his novel Bidong on October 6 in Toronto. We have participated in one book fair and will be part of the
Ottawa Independent Writers Book Fair on December 2. In July, I did three book signings in British Columbia. However, my main focus in the
coming months will be to finish The Photos.

Poison

1. What types of books do you write? Since I'm still just starting out, I haven't gotten a chance to really expand my genres of writing yet. But I absolutely love fantasy and the opportunities for creativity that it possesses. My first two books are YA Fantasy, and I also have a hankering for Dystopian, so I'll be trying that out soon, too!

2.What is the latest book you have written?
I actually just finished writing my second book, Possession, a few weeks ago! It's the sequel to my first book, Poison, and the second of a trilogy. It's due for release on Christmas Eve this year, so I'm very excited!

3. When did you start writing?
Back in eighth grade, I started to write short stories for a class that I was taking, and I've been in love with writing since then. I gradually evolved from short stories to novellas, then from novellas to novels, and here I am seven years later with two books under my proverbial belt already!

4. Why did you start writing?
Like I mentioned above, the writing was a requirement for this class, so I stuck it out until I eventually grew to enjoy it a lot. I continued writing even after that class because I loved it so much, I didn't want to let it go.

5. Who are your influences?
My influences are numerous, since I read so many novels these days. But if I had to choose my top three they would be: Suzanne Collins, D.J. MacHale, and J.K. Rowling. All of them possess a wonderful gift for story-telling that I hope to master one day.

6. What can we expect from you in the near future? Book signing events, other details
Possession will be released on December 24, 2012, so I will be having a blog tour at the beginning of the New Year in celebration of the release! Also, in the summer of 2013, my stand-alone dystopian "Cobra's Chain" will be released, so be on the lookout for that! Book signings and the like will most likely happen, but the details are yet to be finalized!

Shadow Play

1. What types of books do you write?
I write Urban Fantasy Romance. I love to write strong woman and even stronger men.

2. What is the latest book you have written?
My debut novel Shadow Play is due out in Dec. But my latest novel that I am working on is book three called Times Fallen Warrior (my daughter picked the name.) Further details can be found on my website

4. When did you start writing?
I started writing in high school.

5. Why did you start writing?
I read a story that didn’t have a happy ending and it broke my heart. Even twenty plus years later it still upsets me. So I wrote another ending for the book.

6. Who are your influences?
Jeaniene Frost, when I read her Cat series I was inspired to write and finished three novels in the next year. But I love the writings of Mercedes Lackey, Johanna Lindsay, love anything funny and contemporary. I have to admit I love to read, and am inspired by so many authors that I can’t really name them all.

7. What can we expect from you in the near future?
Book signing events, other details. My debut novel Shadow Play will be released Dec. 12th. I will be doing a two week blog tour for it. Also book two will be out in late Jan or Feb and I’ll be doing another blog tour then.

1. What types of books do you write?
I write dark mysteries infused with an in-your-face examination of female sexual image and politics.

2. What is the latest book you have written?
My first crime novel, DISTORTION was just released by Buzz Books USA. It's about an artist who paints a crime scene in reverse perspective and turns a murder investigation backwards--onto her friends. The FBI asks her to spy on those friends, for her country. Adele refuses ... until someone starts killing them. Now she'll use the FBI, the clues--and even her friends--to save them. It's now available in paperback, Kindle and Nook formats.

3. Is it part of a series, if so which one?
It's the first in my Adele Proust, pop art mysteries.

4. When did you start writing?
I wrote in my teens and early twenties, but then life got busy and I set it aside while I first foought apartheid, then raised children. About three years ago, I took up writing again seriously.

5. Why did you start writing?
I created characters to give voice to different ideas that were rattling around in my mind. When I wrote down those character's perceptions, I could sort of clear my head. It felt great. So then the characters started interacting--which created story. Once I got to the story stage, the rest was mostly taking dictation from my characters. Like life and art, my characters may have been inspired by events or issues in my life, but then the characters turned around and inspired me right back I write as much to give voices to their authentic feelings as to consciously develop a plot.

Who am I?

I am mother, entrepreneur, IT Engineer, poet and foremost a woman. I say this because, at times, we as mothers´forget we are individuals too. We hide under motherhood to excuse and justify our movements in life.

I have 3 children aged from 17 to 1 years old, they keep my on my toes 24-7. They are the biggest aspect of my life. They keep me thinking of new adventures all the time, and sometimes they stop me taking some of them too. I am known to be rather wild at times. A special quote from my 17-year-old the other day - Whilst picking on his younger brother, I pointed out that they all came from the same stomach, so he should not belittle him like that. His reply - That is the problem mother, we came from somewhere far worse than your stomach!!

Recently, self-published my first book of poetry called THE HIGHS, the lows, The Inbetweens. Which is exactly as the title describes, all about the different stages in my life. What makes it different from most? Everything, I am an average woman, fighting to survive in the world, and I have had too many kickbacks and keep trying to survive. That counts for a lot in my eyes and especially my childrens´eyes.

The next book of poetry, I have written is called Just Me. Yet, to be published. I want to produce hard copies of my first book prior to releasing the next one. It does not end there, it will be followed by Moments, and Untitled. Untitled, because it is exactly that, a book, which can not be classed as a collection, or given a title. There are a few poems in this book, that on Monday, I think the title is this, and by Friday the title changes. Other´s have read it and feel the same way, that the title of the poem changes on the mood that you are in, intrigued? I intend to publish it at some point next year, not sure when, it is all one big learning curve at the moment, called Life!

The Persecution of Mildred Dunlap

1. What types of books do you write?
I've written one and it's a historical fiction, The Persecution of Mildred Dunlap, which takes place in 1895 after the imprisonment of Oscar Wilde for homosexual activity. It's about the fallout his prison sentence has on a small Nevada ranching town, a lesbian couple in particular, but is not just limited to homophobia, but rather embraces racism and anti-Semitism also. It's a story about tolerance, a chronicle in hatred and prejudice with all its unintended and devastating consequences and how love and friendship heal.

2. What is the latest book you have written?
The Persecution of Mildred Dunlap, which I mentioned above. On Sale, at Amazon, as you can see with many reviews. As well as having been featured in the largest Circulating Press in Ventura County, CA, where I live with my husband, Terry, and our two rescue dogs, Max and Bella.

3. Is it part of a series, if so which one?
It is not part of a series.

4. When did you start writing?
I started writing for fun at the age of ten, it was just something that happened. Writing was my sanctuary, where I felt safe to be myself without worry of retribution or rejection. By the time I was in college, my writing I wrote a couple of award-winning short stories that encouraged me to continue writing. It's something I love to do, and comes natural for me. I don't experience much writers block or frustration with the process of writing and look upon that as a gift.

5. Why did you start writing?
All I can say is it just happened, one day the pen was in my hand and I was keeping a diary, writing short stories, poetry,
expressing myself on paper freely, while unable to in other ways of communicating. It was liberating and safe, a wonderful
combination, that I still to this day experience.

6. Who are your influences?
I had a wonderful father, who taught me through unconditional love, you can be anything you make your mind up to be, and while that isn't necessarily true to writing or any talents or gifts, it helped keep my critic at bay, the voice inside our heads that say we're not good enough, who would ever read your work, don't bother, that voice was diminished so it never stopped me. I also been blessed with an amazing writing teacher, Deb Norton in Ojai CA, who taught me things about writing, to expand on the story, to bring in scenes and character development in ways I hadn't thought of. She helped me
see perspective I had missed on my own. I've been blessed with excellent editing and reader's help with honest feedback
that would ensure the story would win, feedback was given without pretense and that helped me grow. Then there's the tons of books I read, the masters, the indie authors, all the wonderful writing that helped me see a standard, to get the idea of what is good and what distracts, pulls attention off the story. In this also, I was very blessed that I found great books and I somehow was receptive to learning about different ways of expressing, writing, so that when I was ready, the spontaneity of my own voice came through with greater ease.

7. What can we expect from you in the near future? Book signing events, other details.

I'm at the tail end of Lyme Disease so don't travel much, but hey, I'm not closed to a miracle happening and a complete cure. If that happens then the sky is the limit. I want to get out there and meet people, because the message of the book is so important, tolerance. And, I want to get out there because another passion, a love in my life, dogs and animal rescue,
