To believe

Recently, I took on the challenge to write a Thanksgiving poem, the challenge was to write a poem or short story that somehow changes a disbeliever to be thankful …..and for those of us that like to take photos , post a photo showing what your thankful for … I rose to the challenge………..

Why, can you not see him?
Standing in front of you
Guiding your hand
Through this life
So rich, he gave it to you.

Why, can you not reach to him?
And clearly see
You were never here
Out of choice
Your purpose is his, so to speak.

Why, can you not believe?
All that you hear
His voice is so clear
Each day it calls to you
Stop, and you will hear.

Wh,y can you not stand?
In this glorious abyss
It is so natural
Strong, and healthy
It exists!

Why, can you not be glorious?
Glorious just like me
It helps you feel safe
You will never fear
If, only you could believe…………………

Sing We Now of Christmas: An Advent Anthology

1. What type of books do you write?
I write mostly fantasy and science fiction, but I also delve into some inspirational writing, such as with my latest project. In everything I do, I try to make sure there is some highly-original element.

2. What is the latest book you have written?

My latest book is my first foray into independent publishing and compiling an anthology. It is called “Sing We Now of Christmas: An Advent Anthology”. It is a group of 25 Christmas stories based on Christmas Carols that can be read like an advent calendar.
On Sale, at Amazon and different book stores

3. Is it part of a series, if so which one?
It the first book, and I’m going to at least one more coming out next year along the same lines. The proceeds from both books will all go to charity.

4. When did you start writing?

I started writing seriously when I was in high school. I had been a voracious reader all growing up and one day thought I’d see if I could write a novel myself. A year later, I had, and I’ve never stopped since.

5. Why did you start writing?

I’ve been blessed with an off-the-wall imagination that needed an outlet. It never gets old seeing the creations of your mind given life on a page.

6. Who are your influences?

Other Fantasy and Sci-Fi authors like Brandon Sanderson, Orson Scott Card, Garth Nix and Terry Brooks have influenced me greatly.

7. What can we expect from you in the near future? Book signing events, other details
We are having a “singing signing” with the other authors of my Christmas anthology on December 6th, 2012 at the Pleasant Grove, UT Library from 7-9pm. We are going to be signing books, but also singing some of the carols that the stories are based on. All are welcome!

Broken Consciousness

My book’s called “Broken Consciousness” In forms
from sonnet, triolet and villanelle,
I’ve written of the shoe that drops, the bell
that signals epileptic seizure-storms.

This is my infant book but not the last
that I will write. I plan another one,
some poems of my father’s so the sun
can dawn on them, and others will be cast

in my own words. I’ve written now for ten
years. Why? My father took the time to teach
me classic forms. “Be bold,” he said, “and reach
high for those writing stars.” And so the yen

began in me. My father, gone three years
now, won’t be present when I read and sign
my books by end of year. I hope the line
will be as long as memory that cheers

me in remembering his lessons that
made him my influence along with Frost
and Sandburg, Whitman, Wordsworth. I get lost
in words that speak to me and tip their hat.
