The Fix

I write two types of books – The Fix is dark humour / murder mystery, I’ve also written a yet to be published historical fiction series regarding the Roman invasion of Britain & the almost entirely forgotten General, Caradoc.
2. What is the latest book you have written?
It’s a murder / mystery novel but with a very strong leaning towards humour. It’s about a guy who hates everything in his life – job (in an investment bank!), girlfriend, social life (he has none) & friends (none of these either). It’s about relationships & it’s about lies, how everyone will do something to get ahead – some more than others.
The Fix is available as an e-book on Amazon: On Sale at Amazon
Here’s the blurb:
Murder. Theft. Sociopaths. And Margate. Just another day in banking then...
It’s pre crash 2007 and financial investment banker Josh Dedman’s life is unravelling fast. He’s fired after £20 million goes missing from the bank. His long-time girlfriend has cheats on him, then dumps him. His only friends are a Russian tramp who claims to be ex-KGB and a really irritating bloke he’s just met on the train. His waking hours are a nightmare and his dreams are haunted by a mystery blond. And to cap it all, he lives in Margate…
Just when Josh thinks things can’t get any worse his sociopathic boss — Hershey Valentine — winds up dead and he finds himself the number one suspect. As the net closes in Josh discovers that no one is quite what they seem, including him, and that sometimes help comes from the most unlikely sources…
Part fiction, part lies (well, it is about banking) and excruciatingly funny, The Fix pulls no punches when revealing the naked truth of a man living a life he loathes.
3. Is it part of a series, if so which one?
No, although the historical fiction book due out is.
4. When did you start writing?
It’s difficult to remember as I’ve been writing since I was about 9 years old!
5. Why did you start writing?
I’ve always loved words & I’m usually reading a couple of books at a time. So experiencing how well others communicate their characters and situations and the emotions they evoked in me made me want to do the same. I enjoy the challenge of building a story and then seeing others read it (& hopefully like it too).
6. Who are your influences?
There are many, I’ve been lucky enough to read some excellent books. In specific genres there are one or two authors I will always pick up when they publish a new book. To be specific:
- Historical fiction, Bernard Cornwell, Seven Saylor, Robert Harris (Roman books)
- Thriller, Lee Child, Martin Cruz Smith
- Fantasy, Terry Pratchett, Philip Pullman
- Crime, Ian Rankin
I pick these guys as they all write compelling narrative, their characters are really well rounded, the dialogue is strong. I’m always pleased when starting a new book of theirs and sad when I’ve finished it.
7. What can we expect from you in the near future? Book signing events, other detailsI conduct exchange reviews
Promotion, promotion & more promotion! I’m also looking for reviews & I have just started as a reviewer myself.
Call me crazy but it is my life!

I have two non-fiction books about my life that have been published. Right now I am working on a fiction book.
2. What is the latest book you have written?
My latest book is "Bound by Torment", previously I wrote "Call me crazy but it is my life".
On Sale at Amazon
3. Is it part of a series, if so which one?
In order to understand me completely, you would have to read both of my published books, but I did not list them as a series because they can be read independently.
4. When did you start writing?
I started writing in 2011 around the Holidays.
5. Why did you start writing?
In the beginning, I was just writing as a source of self healing. After telling other people about my book, I was urged to publish. I published in hopes of helping other abuse victims.
6. Who are your influences?
My biggest influences are my Mom, Siblings, Husband, Kids and my Nanny who passed away three years ago.
7. What can we expect from you in the near future? Book signing events, other details.
I am hoping to publish my fiction book by the end of the summer of 2013. That is the goal right now, maybe sooner.

ILLUSIONS: LAYLA'S STORY, part 2

1. What types of books do you write?
My books are factual.
2. What is the latest book you have written?
The most recent book I've released is ILLUSIONS: LAYLA'S STORY, part 2 of my SistaGirlz series.
3. Is it part of a series, if so which one?
The series begins with LIVIN' JUST ENOUGH: RACHAEL'S STORY.
On Sale at Amazon
4. When did you start writing?
I began writing at the age of 16. Started publishing at 30.
5. Why did you start writing?
My sister gave me a journal for my 16th birthday. She knew I had something to say but I refused to talk to anyone about what I was going through. She suggested that I write my feelings down instead of keeping them bottled up.
6. Who are your influences?
Pretty much anyone I've come in contact with has influenced my writing. Sometimes it takes a while for me to learn the lesson but everyone I know has taught me how to get through this thing called Life.
7. What can we expect from you in the near future?
My main focus is releasing my SistaGirlz series. As the storyline progresses, my readers will see how the characters grow up and learn from what they're going through together. Once I publish the paperback editions of my books, I plan to have book signing events, book giveaways and book tours. At the moment, I've been giving away ebooks to help spread the word about my SistaGirlz series.
The Line, the Itch and the Rabbit Hole

I typically write dark, twisted fiction with a comical edge. Whether it’s fantasy, horror or something in between. My two recent books, the ones that are currently available on Amazon, are nothing of the sort. “An Idiot in Love” is an out-and-out comedy; “The Line, the Itch and the Rabbit Hole” is a memoir. I needed a change, and I really like the results, but I will be returning to my usual genres now.
2. What is the latest book you have written?
“An Idiot in Love” is a fictional biography from the perspective of Kieran McCall, a persistently unlucky idiot who has failed to catch any breaks in life or love. It’s a rom-com from the male side.
An Idiot in Love on Sale at Amazon
The Line, the Itch and the Rabbit Hole on Sale at Amazon
3. When did you start writing?
I started writing nearly ten years ago, when I was 18. I had “dabbled” many years before that when I was 10 or 11, but it wasn’t until I was 18 when things became serious after my first short story was published in a local rag.
4. Why did you start to write?
I’d always loved to read and had a wicked imagination.
5. Who are your influences?
Philip K. Dick. Terry Pratchett and Stephen King. The fact that they write in three completely different genres probably has something to do with my own genre-indecisiveness.
6. What can we expect from you in the immediate future?
It’s only been a few weeks since the first book was published, so I’m not really sure what will happen from here. I guess I just cross my fingers and keep on promoting.
Further details will be updated on my blog

Black Friday Giveaway

Life can get you down, but it is how you deal with these struggles that make you the person you are today. I find writing helps me deal with every aspect of my life. The pleasant experiences are written so that I can turn back and be grateful for the things I have achieved in life. The unpleasant experiences are written, so I can overcome them and deal with the problems that I am facing at the moment. I am publishing these personal parts of my life, to help others see that they are not alone. I am not an expert in any domain, I have not succeeded in any aspect of my life, but I try to learn from my mistakes and in turn, I have become wiser. Knowledge gained by experience, rather than through a book or education. Therefore, take this journey with me, through every aspect of my life, the highs, lows and the inbetweens.

No
4. When did you start writing?
I started writing immediately after graduating from college in 1995.

Truthfully, I started writing because I couldn’t find a job! I had to bring in an income some kind of way since employers weren’t breaking down doors to hire me.
6. Who are your influences?
Terry McMillan. I love to read and write fiction … something I plan to do in the near future.
7. What can we expect from you in the near future? Book signing events, other details

Emptiness
I am a shell,
Echoes,
Hearing voices around.
I can not grow,
Or belong,
To anything once more.
I am empty,
Surrounded by beauty,
On this shore.
I can not love,
Alone,
Hollow once more.
I am a shell,
With no owner,
No feelings anymore.
Echoes,
Hearing voices around.
I can not grow,
Or belong,
To anything once more.
I am empty,
Surrounded by beauty,
On this shore.
I can not love,
Alone,
Hollow once more.
I am a shell,
With no owner,
No feelings anymore.
Castles on the Sand

As E.M. Tippetts I write chick lit and YA novels, all of which have a strong romance element. As Emily Mah I write science fiction and fantasy, but I've only ever sold short stories with this name (so far.)
2. What is the latest book you have written?
The latest book I've released is Castles on the Sand, which is a YA coming of age story about a sixteen year old girl who is discovered by a long lost brother she never knew she had. She's used to being alone and having no one in her corner, so when big brother starts to tell her she's lovable, beautiful, and worthy of better treatment than her "friends" give her, it rocks the foundations of her world - ultimately in a good way.

3. Is it part of a series, if so which one?
Yes, both books are parts of series. Castles on the Sand will have a sequel called Personal Demons, and Nobody's Damsel is the sequel to Someone Else's Fairytale (and there will be more books in the Fairytale series.)
4. When did you start writing?
When I learned to hold a pencil, I guess. Before that I just came up with really creative lies I told my parents.
5. Why did you start writing?
I'm one of those people who literally has to. No matter where I am or what I'm doing, stories will start to appear on my hard drive or on scratch paper left lying around. Given I have this compulsion, I figured I should learn how to do it well enough to generate some income, because otherwise it is a very time consuming hobby.
6. Who are your influences?
Too many to name. I am a graduate of the Clarion West Writer's Workshop for Science Fiction and Fantasy, where I was taught by Octavia Butler, Bradley Denton, Nalo Hopkinson, Ellen Datlow, Connie Willis, and Jack Womack. I was in the Critical Mass writer's group for ten years and there workshopped with Daniel Abraham, Yvonne Coats, Ty Franck, George RR Martin, Victor Milan, John Jos. Miller, Melinda Snodgrass, S.M. Stirling, Ian Tregillis, Sage Walker, and Walter Jon Williams. Before I got any training I corresponded with my favorite author growing up, Orson Scott Card. He's the one who helped advise me where to go to learn how to write.
But needless to say, whenever I pick up a book or watch a movie, I'm influenced. I'm that annoying person who mutters all the way through a movie about whether or not the scene structure was effective or the dialogue worked.
7. What can we expect from you in the near future? Book signing events, other details
Just book releases for now! I'm not adverse to doing signings, but rarely do they pay off for bookstores until the writer is able to move some serious volume. My sales are climbing and I've been ranked very high on Amazon, but all in all, I'm a newbie still breaking in.

The Persecution of Mildred Dunlap By Paulette Mahurin

An amazing book, which I could not put down from start to finish. It featured hatred in it´s true form.
The main storyline, focused on Mildred, but there were other aspects, which were mentioned in the book, all with the same theme, hatred causes nothing but pain, wasted energy and life is too short.
The book was vivid, and the scenes were excellently set, that I felt that I was in this historical town. Even with the advantages of technology, the descriptions of news travel, and the limitations in the evidence of this news. Also, I felt I was in this small town, with the characters in the book.
Unfortunately, Mildred felt love and hate for this town for different reasons, which were made clear in the book.
I was never disappointed with each section of the book, from the beginning to the middle and especially at the end.
I was expecting a twist and was glad that it did happen in an unexpected light. I recommend this book to other´s, because I truly believe to move forward in life, we need to learn from history.
These were historical events that did happen, and I loved the way this news effected others in the town. At times it made me laugh and other times, I felt sadness............well done, to the author, for their first novel, it is such an excellent achievement.

Who am I?

I have 3 children aged from 17 to 1 years old, they keep my on my toes 24-7. They are the biggest aspect of my life. They keep me thinking of new adventures all the time, and sometimes they stop me taking some of them too. I am known to be rather wild at times. A special quote from my 17-year-old the other day - Whilst picking on his younger brother, I pointed out that they all came from the same stomach, so he should not belittle him like that. His reply - That is the problem mother, we came from somewhere far worse than your stomach!!
Recently, self-published my first book of poetry called THE HIGHS, the lows, The Inbetweens. Which is exactly as the title describes, all about the different stages in my life. What makes it different from most? Everything, I am an average woman, fighting to survive in the world, and I have had too many kickbacks and keep trying to survive. That counts for a lot in my eyes and especially my childrens´eyes.
The next book of poetry, I have written is called Just Me. Yet, to be published. I want to produce hard copies of my first book prior to releasing the next one. It does not end there, it will be followed by Moments, and Untitled. Untitled, because it is exactly that, a book, which can not be classed as a collection, or given a title. There are a few poems in this book, that on Monday, I think the title is this, and by Friday the title changes. Other´s have read it and feel the same way, that the title of the poem changes on the mood that you are in, intrigued? I intend to publish it at some point next year, not sure when, it is all one big learning curve at the moment, called Life!

Eat, Pray, Love

Elizabeth Gilbert (played by Julia Roberts) realised after years (not sure how many because they were not revealed in the movie) she had been living in unhappiness in her marriage. So she left him for a man who looked like him and was a lot younger. Until, she finally figured out the problems were not the relationships, but simply within. She set on a journey to three countries, Italy, India and Bali. For 3 simply reasons, to eat, pray and then finally love.
Julia Roberts, is not my favourite actress. After watching the movie, the first time, and falling asleep. Simply, because I can never figure out if she is meant to be happy or sad. After Pretty Woman, I just felt there was no movie, she could stare in that could move mountains for me.
I decided to watch it again, and again, without falling asleep. I read the reviews on the movie, and thought, well, it is a bad movie, this is why you keep falling asleep. Then, I read it was based on a bestselling book, and this baffled me. Then, I came into the realisation, how many times, have you heard the book is better! Which I will purchase, in the near future.
Finally, I stayed awake through the whole movie, and thought I need to go to Bali. Not, because of the sea, sunshine, and finding the hunk that can not be found in any other country. I realised, whilst watching the movie. That this woman was a reflection of me with no kids. She constantly had people surrounding her, and for that moment in Bali, when she had no one surrounding her, she realised, who she liked, what she liked, how to think.........It was like she was lost in society, working, marriage and everything else. This is the reason, I am putting this as one of my favourite movies. I can relate, and with all the bad ratings in the world, which this movie has accomplished, it is a reflection of life, and how we continue with it, until, we stop, look and listen..............
Now it Begins

My book is a Self help book, the second book that I am in the process of writing is a non fiction/fiction
story which is on the same vein as the Celestine Prophecies, although it is based on my grandfather who was famous in the 1950's with my mother performing mind reading, illusionist and escapology.
2. What is the latest book you have written?
My new book is called "Now it Begins" and it is practical and spiritual with ancient learning and short stories. The book is split into 10 distinct phases.
"As the world is changing fast, a great shift of universal energy is taking place. Some of us are aware of this and are ready to move forward and leave behind an old world that has suffered from greed, selfishness, anger, blame and hatred. This means, raising our vibration of energy from within and connecting with one another on a higher and faster frequency that is happening now on this planet. For some this is inconceivable and for others, the transformation has already begun". Further details are on my blog
3. Is it part of a series, if so which one?
No
4. When did you start writing?
I started writing 2009 when I wrote a Law of Attraction course and from there I started writing this book in 2010.
5. Why did you start writing?
Throughout my life, I have always felt a deep desire within to be able to help others in some way. For many years I was confused, searching and often leaving the path from my original thoughts as to where my true soul purpose may lie. I travelled around the world, had various jobs, started businesses and lost everything in a materialistic way many times over. I was also a singer and songwriter…still something was missing from within. Later I became interested in healing and other therapies, finally finding a way that I could build my life around without the need for trying.
I have always wanted to write a book for many years. Now it Begins has been written from my heart and includes short stories, life experiences, illustrated, researched, and the greatest thing of all, able to share this knowledge of self awareness to the world in these changing times. As everything comes to us at the right time and that time is now... so, Now it Begins!
6. Who are your influences?
My influences are Richard Bach "Illusions", James Redfield "The Celestine Prophecy", Deepak Chopra "Seven Spiritual Laws", Taosim, Eastern Philosophies and Spirituality.
7. What can we expect from you in the near future? Book signing events, other details
I hope to be doing more book signings in WH Smiths, London and Waterstones and introducing more workshops, as well as the Law of Attraction, and Reiki. I am also a Holistic clinical hypnotherapist, and past life regressionist. Further details can be found by clicking on this link

The Companion of Lady Holmeshire

I write English historical suspense with a touch of sweet romance. My stories are set about the time that Queen Victoria took the throne, 1837 to 1840.
2. What is the latest book you have written?
My debut novel is The Companion of Lady Holmeshire. A foundling grows to become a servant girl and is chosen by the Countess of Holmeshire to become her companion. She is dragged along into polite society where she is rudely rejected.Full details can be found on my site
3. Is it part of a series, if so which one?
Companion is not part of a series, although my second book does begin a series. I am adding some characters from Companion in to the third book, the second of the series. It works into the story well, so why not?
4. When did you start writing?
Just two years ago. I spent earlier years in other fields.
5. Why did you start writing?
I had a jewelry business for many years, and as I would sit making jewelry I would watch period movies. I ran out of movies at the same time as I tired of making jewelry, so just decided to write my own story. I was pleasantly surprised when it was accepted by a publisher.
6. Who are your influences?
Jane Austen and Charles Dickens.
7. What can we expect from you in the near future? Book signing events, other details
I will start to do signings in the (Northern Hemsiphere) spring, but for now, I am focusing on my online presence. I run the English Historical Fiction Authors blog which posts daily on a British history topic. We also have a Facebook group by the same name which anyone who is interested in history or historical fiction is welcome to join. I hope that my new book named For the Skylark will soon be released. It is the story of twins raised in isolation on a great estate. Evangeline is happy and content in their abnormal situation. As her brother seeks to see the world outside the estate, life begins to normalize and she cannot cope. She begins to spend her days in a tower dome with their mother. The mother is modeled after Charles Dickens' Miss Havisham.

Taking life for granted

I walk through the park nearly every day from the gym. Yesterday, I decided to take a phot of the path, in black and white. Not sure, why! I am not a photographer, or a budding photographer. Today, I decided to stop and take in my surroundings and take a photo. The only time, I take photos are off the kids, due to the fact I feel they grow too fast.
Later, at home, I looked at the photo, almost in a trance. Not because of the beauty of the photo. Simply because of one thing………………………….
I have walked this path, over a thousand times, and not one time, have I realised the beauty of it. It made me realise that there are so many things, I take for granted in life. Sure, I have my good times, which feel too unreal now…………..sometimes it feels like the end of my world and throws me, and makes me question who I am.
Sometimes, if I stop – listen and think for one moment, I would see beauty all the time. Not when my life is good and things are going good. This is not the meaning of seeing beauty. The beauty is in the appreciation of life regardless of how you want to see it, see it for what it really is……………
We all know life is too short, so why do we continually take it for granted.

Definition of being a Mother
I remember when I had my first son. My first thoughts were what is all the fuss about. When I was younger the number of children I wanted changed from 6 to 0 as I grew older. For the simple reason, I looked at some mothers and they looked like they had been in World War 2, eever since they started having children. Their children, looked like they lived in palaces.
When he was a baby, I recall, getting him ready, feeding him, bathing him and thinking this is not so hard. I could take him out to the park all day, and go clubbing all night. Life seemed too good. There were these constant debates in the media, whether, it is better to be a stay home Mum or go to work etc. Unfortunately, I never had the choice.
The day it hit me, the Definition of Being a Mother, was when I was preparing him to go to school, and I had not enrolled him in any school! I thought I was all prepared listing him the year before the school year. There were Mum´s that had listed their child since they were pregnant. My first thought, what was I doing? And it was too soon, then? I was enjoying him and my life was fine, so why stress myself so early for no reason.
From that moment onwards it was a constant struggle, not only for schools, but life in general. This is when I felt "Motherhood". This is when I began to question, my role as a mother. This was the time I had to think about his future, and how he would get there. Morales that I had to install in him, influences and choices I had to make for his life.
Before, he went to the park and played with anyone. Now, I would watch him hanging around certain people and think, I do not want you to be my son´s friend. I never understood, why mothers felt the need to go back to work when their kids started school. I felt this was the time they needed to be there, not only because of the school hours, but simply because this is when the real hard work began.
I would like to know other person´s thoughts and If they can relate to this day, i.e. when the definition of being a mother or father began for them…………………
