The Man Who Built The World

The man1. What type of books do you write?
I write mainly in the speculative fiction genres, that is to say, science fiction, fantasy and horror. However, I like to try new things and have written in a variety of different genres. Among my current projects are a action-comedy novella series and a romance novel.

2. What is the latest book you have written?
My latest release is a horror/thriller called The Man Who Built The World. It is set in a fictional village on the edge of Dartmoor, in Devon, England. The central character is a man named Matthew Cassidy who returns to his village after sixteen years to attempt the funeral of his sister, facing up to the demons in his past in the process. It is very much like Stephen King's The Shining, in such it features an alcoholic writer on the verge of madness. However, the root of Matthew's problems are far deeper than even he could have imagined.

3. Is it part of a series, if so which one?
This one is a stand-alone novel. Series seem to be all the rage these days and I have one myself - The Tube Riders trilogy (only part one has been published) - however I believe a lot of readers enjoy reading one-off stories. I know I do.

4. When did you start writing?

The earliest I can remember writing stories is about age 8. I won a prize in school age 10 for a story I wrote. No idea what happened to it, I imagine it's in a drawer somewhere now! Through my early teens I tapped gamely away on my dad's typewriter, then when we got a computer when I was about 16 I stepped it up a level. I submitted my first short story manuscript at age 18 and finished my first novel the same year.

5. Why did you start writing?
I had an overactive imagination and I just always had stories to tell. My earliest stories were pretty much Lord of the Rings fan fiction - as in unlikely hero goes on a quest - but these days I feel I've developed my own style and never write the same book twice. Readers that are new to my work would be best to expect the unexpected. My books will always entertain but my stories won't always turn out the way they're expected to.

6. Who are your influences?
Early on I read tons of fantasy and horror, stuff like Terry Brooks, David Gemmill, Stephen King, Dean Koontz . . . these days I read a lot more varied stuff. Probably my favorite writer is Iain Banks, a Scottish writer who writes sci-fi and mainstream books, although a lot of them are truly genre-bending which is why I like them.

7. What can we expect from you in the near future? Book signing events, other details
I'm working hard on new material plus brushing up lots of older manuscripts. I recently started a novella series entited Beat Down! under a pen name so look out for it. I'm also working on part two of my Tube Riders trilogy. After that one is finished I'm going to take a break before I write part three to write another sci-fi book. There's a lot to come from me so keep a look out.

Richard The Lionheart

1. What type of books do you write? Young adult and children but tried a historical fiction book about Richard the Lionheart. I love the Robin Hood movies and thought that no one hardly ever mentions Richard the King.

2. What is the latest book you have written? Richard the Lionheart is the last one I had published, but I have another one I am editing before sending it in to be published. Richard should be available on E book very soon.
On Sale, at Amazon and different book stores

3. Is it part of a series, if so which one?
No, but I thought about writing a series of historical fiction books about kings and queens but not completely sure yet.

4. When did you start writing?
I would say about two years ago I got into writing full time, but I have written poems when i was still in high school.

5. Why did you start writing?
I took up writing two years ago when my son left home for the Air Force.

6. Who are your influences?
My main writing influence would be Danielle Steel. She has accomplished so much as an author and at a time when hardly no one was writing.

7. What can we expect from you in the near future? Book signing events, other details.

I have an author book signing scheduled for Birmingham in Feburary where there will be over 100 authors present. Other than that, I just completed two other signings last week. I am always open to new venues. As to where I hope to be in the near future is at my computer writing more and more books. I have many more books in me still.

3. Is it part of a series, if so which one?
The series begins with LIVIN' JUST ENOUGH: RACHAEL'S STORY.

4. When did you start writing?
I began writing at the age of 16. Started publishing at 30.

5. Why did you start writing?
My sister gave me a journal for my 16th birthday. She knew I had something to say but I refused to talk to anyone about what I was going through. She suggested that I write my feelings down instead of keeping them bottled up.

6. Who are your influences?
Pretty much anyone I've come in contact with has influenced my writing. Sometimes it takes a while for me to learn the lesson but everyone I know has taught me how to get through this thing called Life.

7. What can we expect from you in the near future?
My main focus is releasing my SistaGirlz series. As the storyline progresses, my readers will see how the characters grow up and learn from what they're going through together. Once I publish the paperback editions of my books, I plan to have book signing events, book giveaways and book tours. At the moment, I've been giving away ebooks to help spread the word about my SistaGirlz series.

Broken Hearts; Dusty Dreams

1. What type of books do you write?
I write all kinds of books. All of them have the base aspect of being romantic, but as for the sub-genre, I tend to touch a bit of everything. I have young adult, contemporary, paranormal, and a lot of angst.

2. What is the latest book you have written?
I am about to release a novel titled Broken Hearts; Dusty Dreams.

3. Is it part of a series, if so which one?
It will be part of Sugarplum Dreams, Book Four of The Candy Collection.
The Candy Collection is on Sale, at Amazon

4. When did you start writing?
I started writing years ago, but only turned serious about it a couple of years ago.

5. Why did you start writing?
I had a story that needed to be told. It wasn't a pretty one, and it's very personal, but it offered me the chance to really explore myself.

6. Who are your influences?
My partners Michele Richard and Laura Braley, my husband and children, J.K. Rowling, Stephenie Meyer, Stephan King, Nicholas Sparks, to name a few.

7. What can we expect from you in the near future? Book signing events, other details
Well, besides a couple of new releases, I am working on finding a book signing locally.

The Remnant: The Legend of the Seer

1. What type of books do you write?
I write fantasy/speculative fiction.

2. What is the latest book you have written?
Last year, I released my debut novel, The Remnant: The Legend of the Seer through Westbow Press, a self-publishing division of Thomas Nelson.

3. Is it part of a series, if so which one?
The Legend of the Seer is the first installment of The Remnant Series, which, at this point in time, will be a trilogy. However, depending on how the story develops, it could become a saga.

4 & 5. When and Why did you start writing?
I started writing The Legend of the Seer in 2003 when I was only 14-years-old. It started off as a screenplay that my sister and I were going to make into a film with our friends. However, as my sister group up and graduated, I was left with a story without fruition. Thus I began to turn the script into a novel. The process was long and tedious, but I strove to finish what my sister and I had started; I loved fantasy fiction and I was determined to have my story shared with others.

6. Who are your influences?
My writing was and continues to be heavily influence by Paolini, Tolkien and Lewis.

7. What can we expect from you in the near future?
What my fans and potential readers can expect from me in the future is a second installment in The Remnant Series and multiple parallel stories that take place within the world of Trinomia.

To believe

Recently, I took on the challenge to write a Thanksgiving poem, the challenge was to write a poem or short story that somehow changes a disbeliever to be thankful …..and for those of us that like to take photos , post a photo showing what your thankful for … I rose to the challenge………..

Why, can you not see him?
Standing in front of you
Guiding your hand
Through this life
So rich, he gave it to you.

Why, can you not reach to him?
And clearly see
You were never here
Out of choice
Your purpose is his, so to speak.

Why, can you not believe?
All that you hear
His voice is so clear
Each day it calls to you
Stop, and you will hear.

Wh,y can you not stand?
In this glorious abyss
It is so natural
Strong, and healthy
It exists!

Why, can you not be glorious?
Glorious just like me
It helps you feel safe
You will never fear
If, only you could believe…………………

Freelance Writing Guide: What to Expect in Your First Year as a Freelance Writer

1. What types of books do you write?
I write a variety of nonfiction books. I have published a poetry book called “Poetry for the Heart,” a book of essays called “Essays for the Soul,” an autobiography called “My Not-So-Ordinary Life,” and a career guide book called “Freelance Writing Guide.” I am currently working on two memoirs.

2. What is the latest book you have written?
My most recently published book is “Freelance Writing Guide: What to Expect in Your First Year as a Freelance Writer.” The title describes the book accurately. It is an informative book that instructs the reader about my experiences during my first year of freelance writing.

3. Is it part of a series, if so which one?
It is the first book in a series. I plan to write a second freelance writing guide about my second year as a freelance writer. I don’t know how many books will be in the series, but there will be at least two. I also have plans of publishing a “Self-Publishing Guide” that explains all aspects of self-publishing a book.

4. When did you start writing?
Literally, I started writing when I was three years old. When I was nine, I started my first journal. When I was thirteen, I wrote my first poem and short story. Since the age of fourteen, I have kept a journal and write in it frequently. One of the memoirs I’m writing is a compilation of all of my journal entries from age nine to age thirty. I became a professional writer in 2007 when I published my first book.

5. Why did you start writing?
As a child and young adult, I wrote because I enjoyed it. The journal writing and poetry helped me through my adolescent years. Nowadays, I enjoy writing because I like how I can accurately and precisely communicate my thoughts and messages. I gain satisfaction from accurate communication. I also like the feeling of publishing my writing. It took me a few years to feel comfortable with others reading my writing and to call myself a writer.

6. Who are your influences?

One of my literary influences, Geneen Roth, who writes nonfiction books about emotional eating, is a great writer. She writes nonfiction in an entertaining way and which is enjoyable to read. Besides Geneen, I enjoy reading a lot of authors and different genres, but I don’t know of anyone that I would like to emulate. My mom, because of her healthy and balanced lifestyle and her kindness, is one of my influences.

7. What can we expect from you in the near future?

My upcoming books are Chronicles of a Troubled Girl, Articles for the Mind, Freedom from Fat, Freelance Writing Guide (2), and Self-Publishing Guide. I would like to write and publish them all by 2013. I have already started working on “Chronicles” and “Freedom.”
